How do you teach o_e words?
Use hop and hope, not and note, rob and robe. "The silent e makes the o say its name." Read mixed lines of a_e, i_e and o_e so the student checks the vowel each time. O_e words with blends (stone, close, broke) come next.
What mistake do students make with o_e words?
Students read home as /hum/ or come as /kōm/. Come, some, done and gone are common words that look like o_e but aren't. Teach them as heart words before o_e so they don't confuse the pattern.
Where do o_e words come in the sequence?
O_e usually follows i_e in the silent e unit. In the sequence we use, the pattern is taught in Lesson 56.
Exceptions worth knowing
Come, some, done, gone, love and move all end in o, consonant, e without a long o. Whose and lose say /oo/.
Decodable sentences
Every word in these sentences can be read at Lesson 56 or earlier, or is a heart word taught by then.

How this list was built
Every word comes from our lexicon of common English words, each split into spelling units and checked against a pronouncing dictionary, so a word is listed under the sound its spelling really makes. Words a student sees in our assessments are left out. The readable after lesson comes from our decodability engine, which checks each spelling unit and syllable pattern against the lesson sequence. You can run your own text through the same engine with the free decodable text checker.
