Billing questions

One student, and everything a single student needs: the next lesson, the three ratings, the review queue, calendar, reports and certificates, and export. Reports and certificates carry a small Literacy Trail line. Groups and bulk recording are part of Educator.
No. The free seat is for the life of the account: archiving or deleting the student does not open it again. You can rename the student at any time. Teaching a second student means a paid plan, which starts with a free trial.
At the end of the 15-day trial, for the plan and period you picked. Cancel before then and nothing is charged.
Yes, from Plan and billing. Stripe prorates what you have already paid.
An active student record. On a paid plan, archive a student you are no longer teaching and the seat frees up; their history stays and they can be restored.
Educator includes 25 and has no cap: each student beyond that is $0.50 a month, $5.00 a year, or $0.15 a week, on the same bill and prorated from the day you add them. Thirty-five students on Educator is $19.99 a month. Archive a student and the seat is credited on your next invoice.
Access continues to the end of the period you paid for. After that the account goes back to the free plan. With one student you keep recording; with more, everything stays readable and exportable, and recording needs a plan again or an archive down to one.
