Progress monitoring

Progress monitoring is the regular, brief checking of a student's skills to see whether instruction is working and to adjust it if not.

In schools it often means a short measure given every week or two. Day to day it is the rating a teacher gives after each lesson and the pattern those ratings make over a month.

Why it matters for the record

The per-lesson record is what makes the formal measures make sense. Keep both and read them together.
