Mastery
Mastery means a student can use a skill accurately and quickly without help, in words they have not practised.
It is a higher bar than getting the practice words right at the end of the lesson. The test is unfamiliar words, a day or more later, with no prompting.
Why it matters for the record
Three ratings are enough: Needs support, Developing, Secure. Secure is the word for mastery; reserve it for cold, unprompted performance.
