Decodable text
Decodable text is reading material written so that nearly every word uses only the phonics patterns the student has already been taught.
It lets a student apply new skills in connected reading without guessing. As the sequence advances, the texts include more patterns.
Why it matters for the record
Note which text a student read and how it went. It is often the clearest evidence of whether a pattern has transferred from words to reading.
